What's up with my yellow tang?

Just turned on the lights....they were off due to a power outage. What is this white line mid-body? It wasn't there last night.

I thought it could have been HLLE, but pics of lateral line issues with tangs prove I was wrong.

its normal bro. they turn almost white/yellow when lights are off and they "sleep" might be natural camouflage?

Yep. Never seen a yellow tang that didn't do that. He's normal

That's exactly what it is most all fish fade their colors at night to blend into the shows check your tank at night with a flashlight

I've had him for a year...this is a first. I know they get dark areas on their stomachs when the lights are off, but this had me worried.

Yeah, mine does. Colors wash out the same

He's all better now. I'm just never home when the lights first come on. Haha
