I don't know what's wrong with my monti. Parameters have been dead steady for 3 months, lighting is 250w EVC 20k in a Lumenmax 3 reflector. It's about 20" away from it. 0 phosphates, nitrates. It started getting this white about a week and a half ago, and it keeps spreading. I have a pokerstar and a superman monti right next to it, and they are growing like crazy. Any ideas? STN?

Looks like superman monti. :)

Edit: looks like something may have fallen on it like some sand is all.

It's not a true rainbow, but the colony I got it from has the green center, etc. I did get some sand on it, that probably is it. I hope.

Doesn't look like a nudi was eating at it but keep an eye out for them

This is what they look like:

I've been watching and I don't think they're there, but I'll pay closer attention now. Thanks for the pic, I didn't know what they looked like.

that will happen to my montis once in a while for no reason, a lil sick spot, then gets better after a week or two. IMO it is that montipora is a sensitive species that pics up toxins or floating stinging cells from nieghbors.

hows your alk? do you have swings in your alk? maybe have to much flow beatin down on it? not sure. just taking a few guesses

Move it down, too much light. I have had the samething happen to colonies and when I move them to less light they are fine in about a week.

Dont want to take over thread, but I cant get mine to rainbow...Had all the colors when I bought it...Params are steady, but no rainbows for me...Looks like a superman at the moment..Any tips?

Older polyps change colors over time. You might just have a superman. Mine actually is rainbow, I have a superman right next to it. It's just not a Tyree Rainbow.

Make sure you keep your mag level around 1400. Most montis don't do well with low mag.
