It started about a week ago when I found him closed up about an hour before the lights turned off. I didn't think much of it at the time. Then the next morning I found that he was still closed up. He stayed closed for the whole day. The next day he was closed in the morning, but opened up around noon. He looked a tad bit discolored so I decided to feed him a bit. For the past 3 days, he has been staying open till about one thirty or two o-clock and then closing again. He was perfectly fine before this, the only change made was the GBTA next to him split and one half is on one side of him and the second half is on the other. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I've had the rainbow rose bubble tips(3, all came from this one) for 2 and a half years, I got the GBTA at RAP 2016,and I have two more rainbow RBTAs that are about 7 months old. The tank has been set up for three years. I don't have an ALK or MG test kit, I was planing on picking one up next time I go the LFS, but it's about an hour away. would stepping up my water changes help?

Possible, hard to say until you know your parameters.

I've had my nems split for a variety of reasons(Changes in lighting spectrum/schedule; large water changes to name a couple). In any case its a stressful event!

In general would suggest avoiding target feeding for 1-2 weeks. They'll bury their foot deeper in the rock and hide a bit more while in recovery. When it is time to start target feeding again take note of how sticky the tentacles are. If they're losing their grip when in contact with food it isn't a good thing. Pay close attention to the mouth as well: a gaping mouth is not good(I've been advised this is NOT an indicator of hunger, but stress). It should always look like puckered lips w/ little to no gap.

On the color change - I've had them alter their color based on the lighting spectrum/intensity and changing the salt mix(trace element composition? Just speculating here). If the color change is due to the nem expelling zooxanthellae the previous two indicators of stress mentioned are likely to be present at the same time (or to come shortly...)

His health has greatly increased since my last post. I turned the light all the way down to 45% intensity and gradually increased it every other day. He is open almost all day now, but he still isn't as pink as he was before. So thankful I didn't lose this guy, he'll be 3 years old(Along with his two other siblings) this December:)
