whats wrong with my skimmer?

hello i have bubble magus curve 5 skimmer and it keeps over flowing and making a gulp sound like every ten minutes. i had it at 8inches of water but seaside aquatics said to raise about an inch or two. currently at 6 1/2 inches and still over flowing and make a gulp sound with a bubble coming out of the bottom of the skimmer. Would love to know what i can do to fix this.

tank has been setup for 4 months now
and have been running skimmer for about 7 weeks now.
the valve is at max open all the way

tank is a redsea reefer 350

May be too deep in the water. Elevate it slightly and see if it improves

Looks very similar to my new Mantis 120. Optimal operating depth 15-18 cm.
How deep is your sitting and what do your instructions recommend

its currently sitting at 6 1/2 but i started it at 8 inches, seaside aquatics recommend me rise skimmer higher
and the skimmer recommended is 8 to 10

Can you make a video? I know the common answer is usually to raise it, but there is no reason that skimmer cant operate in 6 1/2" of water. When i ran one it was in 10" with no issue.

True it might just need a strip and clean

Make sure you don’t have a rouge snail stuck anywhere in it. Most likely you just need to raise it up a bit though
