Hello everyone, I'm really hoping someone can help me out here. I JUST purchased a brand new Tunze Osmolator 3155 and for some reason it keeps randomly coming on even though the optical sensor is an inch under water. It then doesn't stop until the float switch shuts it off, kind of lost here as to what the issue could be. I didn't expect a $300 piece of equipment to not function properly right out of the box. Pretty frustrated and don't know if I can return it given its set up. Any suggestions? ?

The optical sensor should be out of the water. It will turn on and raise the water level and stop once it begins to reach the bottom of the sensor.

I understand the sensor should be out of the water and it was when I first put it in. Then it started filling over the top of the sensor then stopped, then came back on again even though the sensor was under water. It's now filled itself an inch higher than the optical sensor and the over fill float switch was the only thing that stopped it

If there are any bubbles around the sensor that will mess with the function as well. Most pieces of new equipment get the small bubbles that attach for a couple days when first out into the tank.

Mine did the same thing when I first put it in. Within about 2 days it started working perfectly. Once the film build up on the sensor it will start working correctly.

Thanks Ryan, glad I'm not the only one, I guess patience in the hobby extends to functioning equipment as well lol

No problem. :)
Lol yeah, certainly seems that way. The amount of issues I have run into with my new tank is insane.
