I've two frags of zoanthids. The one on the right is doing fantastic! however the one on the left doesn't seem like it wants to open much more than it is right now. Any ideas of what could be going on?

How long have you had them? What lights are you running (and what intensity)? Water parameters? How much flow in tank? Zoas don't like big alk swings or too much light (without slooooow acclimation).
Also, do they look shiny or glassy?

I see noticeable Cyano in the image?
How old is the tank?
Lighting type?
Have you tried different placement?

How new is your tank and what are ALL of your water parameters?

Meant to include this:

Ammonia - 0.25 (i've read that this means 0 on API test kit?)
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 0
Calcium - 440
Ph - 8.0-8.1
Phosphates - 0
ALk - 8
Cal - 450
Salinity - 34ppm
Temp - 75.5

Tank is a 425xl with 2 ReefLED 90s running 10hrs a day.

1st invest in a better test AS SOON AS YOU CAN
0.00 should mean 0 not .25

How new is the tank

Looking at your numbers your PO4-0 should be about .05 +/-

NO3- should be about 15-20 +/-

Seeing the dinos, your tank looks like it is a new tank and is going through the "ugly cycle" and way to early to be adding ANY livestock

It was started in early Jan late December time. I had this type of outbreak before but then it went away on its own.

I had a cleaner wrasse bury itself and then never reappear which I am expecting it to have died.
Could this be causing it?

Have you tried different lighting and flow for one zoa frag and how long in this position? Move it and wait a week, see what happens. They do not look terribly unhappy though.

Are they really that unhappy? The polyps on the left just look smaller than the ones on the right. In my tank I have a couple zoa frags that tend to stay closed up more often than the others. Definitely seems to happen more with the smaller polyps. The rest of the zoas are all doing great. I think yours are fine too.

I have some dino's right now and some of my zoa polyps will close if some dono strings get on them.
