What's your ATO system?

Avast pressure switch with Avast peristolic pump fed from 5 gal "Sparkletts" water bottle. Pump is kinda loud when it runs but I use kalkwasser for ato so I didn't want traditionsl submersible pump. Didn't want to replace pumps every year.

tunze osmolator. uses an optical switch which is much more reliable than a float switch. also has a float switch to shut it off it water level gets too high. the little pump it comes with fits in a standard 5 gallon jug and works great. well worth the investment.

+1 I have this one too.

BUT.... It can fail however and mine has. If micro-bubbles accumulate on the electric eye it will think it is out of water and call for a fill. The manual float can (and did for me) get stuck. Make sure your sump can handle the ATO volume just in case. And jiggle the mechanical float once in awhile. It also has a stupid design flaw where it outputs about 12oz of water every time the power is cycled. So if you turn it off for water changes, when you turn it back on, it will add water to the tank. I catch it in a cup and dump it.

Spectrapure UPLC II, similar to the Tunze but more reliable since it uses an air/electronic switch and has multiple safety backups.

I have been trying to decide on a ATO, and have been leaning towards the Avast. The Tsunami AT-1 seems to be similar but from what I have been able to find has a 1" threshold where the Avast has a 1/4" threshold.
Has anyone had a bad experience with the Avast unit? Failure to shut off, or complete failure requiring replacement? I would definitely want to use the backup float valve on the incoming water.

Gravity feed from 10 gal RO/DI reservoir to old-school Kent mechanical float valve. Hasn't failed me in 15 years. Works even in power failures :-)

Avast ato, aqua lifter pump, 5g HD bucket, lol love the ato...moved it from my 50g to my new 150g I just got up and running...had it for over a year and a half no problems..

Avast ATO with a Tom aquatics aqua lifter pump. Cheap, simple and flawless so far.
