Whats your dream tank (within reason)

Mine would probably be a 50 to 60 gallon tank in my room, nothing bigger than that cause my room is on the top floor and it can only hold so much. For fish i would probably do:

1x flamback angel
3x pajama cardinals
1x fairy or some other smaller wrasse
1x diamond watchmen goby
2x clowns

Also:

1 or 2 pistol shrimp
1x tuxedo urchin
Maybe a special crab or something too

4x4 square. Either 12 or 18” deep so what about 175 gallonish. Shallow enough for ease of mainetance but wide enough for the active fish. Lagoon style reef

I would like to go with a 75. Anything bigger is getting to out of hand for me. I have a 40 now and i'm looking to upgrade to a 75 eventually.

A 75-90g with a sump and all the best equipment I can imagine. Automated water changes from my holding tanks in the basement. No more buckets and pumps for getting water in and out of tank. RO water coming right from my system to to top off tank near the system.

A big tank that is shallow (like a lagoon style thing) and wide, just like Chac317 said, but I would want it to be viewable from all sides. In the very center is a big rock pile with spots for growing mangroves amongst the coral.

But make sure it's big enough to fill with tangs and wrasses of all kinds. And maybe even an epaulette shark.

Possibly a 96x48x20 with low profile rock scape and sps dominant full blown reef. I will keep a bunch of anthias with tangs and wrasses.

A little over a year ago I helped a guy move in a tank. These numbers are rounded to the nearest foot but the total capacity is roughly 950 gallons 10' x 4.5' x 3'. It's a thing of beauty.

If I could do something similar I'm thinking 9' x 4' x 2.5'. I like Anirban's direction but a little taller to view the middle better.

Real dream would be a tank so big I could snorkel in it. But I suppose that's why I moved to Florida.

For a real goal, Id want one in the wall of my family room, since the back of the wall would be out to a closet in the garage, it would provide a place for the equipment and a spot of access for maintenance, but I think it would be a beautiful display. Make it big enough for my dream trigger and a banana Wrasse, and id be a happy camper.

Two 72" (or 84") x 30" x 24"H tanks plumbed together with the biggest sump, refugium and skimmer that I can muster.

Tank #1: A few angelfish, tangs, wrasse, school of blue reef chromis and mostly SPS
Tank #2: A blue dot stingray (more likely some urobatis sp.), a dozen or so squamipinnis anthias and mostly LPS

Why 2 tanks? Ease everyone's existence. The fish and coral I want to keep don't really play nice together.
Why plumbed together? To maximize total volume. And limit the extra equipment needed.

I'm also pretty sure that I can get the two set up for less than a single tank of the same volume.

A 50 gallon lps and softies tank. Id have lots of euphyilla, and some nice leathers such as the neon green sinularia I have. The only fish would be a pair of maroon clowns or some other large clownfish. I'd maybe add some easy sps like a monti.

I'd go with 500-750G mixed reef, as for fish goes I love tangs and clownfish, so I'd love to get a punch.

I've currently got a 99" 320g... we're having some building work done and will have a 12' flat wall on the opposite side of the wall to the current tank...

I've just put a few quotes to tender for a 11' x 3' x 3'... hook the two tanks up on a 7 x 2 x 2 sump and turn the existing tank into a 320g fuge, full of macros with seahorses, copperbands and mandarins...

Full blown mixed reef in the big one, full of tangs (I have a tang problem lol)

Total system volume - about 1250g.

This dream may yet become a reality!

My retirement system is actually going to be a series of three medium sized cubes (40-50 gallons each) on a single stand and run through a single sump. My passion has always been clownfish and anemones but I refuse to risk putting multiple species in the same tank. This way I can keep multiple species separated but minimize equipment. I was thinking a designer perc pair, a gold stripe maroon pair and a pair of clarkii all paired with unique BTA color morphs.

I would like to have the IM SR 80 or the 120. I just have the IM 40 and I like the modern look, clarity of the glass and ease of maintaining it.
