What's your favorite powerhead for a nano?

MP10 if you don’t want a cord in the tank. The external cord/motor is what made the choice easy for me. You can grab a used one for a good deal sometimes. I got mine for 150 but that might be unusual.

I have a couple of the hyggers (both sizes) and they are nice for gentle, wide cone flow. I think for sps I like my Nero 3 the most though. They are just very, very hard to find.
I second the hyggers. controllable with different modes and wide cone of flow

Just ordered a Jabao SLW-30 for my AWC mix reservoir, a SLW-20 would be perfect :)

I was leaning towards the Nero, and decided after some research the go with the Jabao.

Both pumps need a screen protector on the back to protect from small critter getting sucked in.;)

The Nero comes with the protector.

Yes, I was reading that the Nero's come with a screen and thank you for pointing this out for others :)

The Jabao was just delivered and I will install tomorrow.

Ironically enough, I just added a Sicce Voyager Nano 2000 to my sump to create a bit more flow in one dead area. Easily attaches, whisper quiet and consumes less than 3 watts of power. I might suggest the Voyager 1000 as it's the same size but half the flow (200-ish Gph).
I just put a voyager 2000 and a prime 16 HD in my sump for frags and it's perfect

I personally wouldn't go any lower than 2000

I have the Nero 3 in my max nano and love it. Easily one of the best purchases I made for the tank.
can you post a pic of your nano with the nero3 . I am in between getting the nero3 or mp10 for redsea max nano.

I have both in nanos, I’d have to say that I like the Nero 3 better for this application…
slimmer profile,
but more so the mp shoots more of a jet that can be harsh for the tank size and has be dialed down quite a bit… as well as twice the price
And this is just me but I’ve had better longevity out of my Nero’s and i have plenty of mps going

I actually no longer have the Nero -- it broke and I replaced it w/an MP10! Both are great for the Max Nano IMO. The MP10 is nice b/c of the external cord and there are more settings. The Nero 3 wins design-wise for me -- it's got an incredibly nice thin profile, and the design looks great/like less of an eyesore in the tank. But it died w/in a year. I was glad it died while I was around and I could address it right away, and in the end decided I didn't feel 100% comfortable relying on it, so I upgraded to the MP10.

I would honestly recommend either, w/the caveat that I did experience the issues others have been complaining about w/the Nero, and it happened just before the 1 year mark. If it happens before the warranty is up, the company will step up and take care of it -- you just have to send the broken one to them. As for the MP10, I am not a huge fan of the Mobius app, and had some troubles getting my program set up in it, but eventually was able to and have had no issues since.

would you be able to post a pic of your setup? I am new to the hobby and can use some pointers.

Sorry, I don't have photos handy rn. I can go back and look through some old photos later to see if I have any where you can see the Nero or the MP10. I get a lot of glare where the tank is sitting, so I don't usually take full tank shots b/c the glare makes it nearly impossible to get one where you can see what's in the tank and not a reflection of the room.
