What's your tanks kh consumption? This reefs uptake is 1.5dkh/day. Or 85ml of two part dosed into 80 gallons water volume. Seems to be increasing about .20 dkh every week. Depending on how often I have my hands in the tank.

I test kh every other day, sometimes daily. Depending on how much the number moved prior day.

How often do you test?

Show those tanks too!

Is it normal to see a growth spurt randy. I fixed my nitrate problem and I now see 1dkh per day loss. before I fixed it I was maybe using up .10 per day

Certainly changes in various parameters, some of which we measure and some not (like organics), will impact the demand for alkalinity and calcium. It is possible the changes in nitrate impacted it, but also possible that other things that changed at the same time might be the cause. :)

About 1 drip per second out of my calcium reactor :p. before that it was at around .6 dkh a day or so but growth increased when I started up my calcium reactor, so probably more now.

I'm terrified to change anything right now but want to add a calcium reactor. I've heard many times it's the way to go. DIY 2 part is so affordable and recently started using pharma grade. Perhaps one day I will get the nerve up to make the change.

I'm dosing by hand,90 gallon lightly stocked,5ml in the am,5ml in pm..consumes 1dkh in 24hrs

Both methods have their problems. I love my calcium reactor because I am super lazy and it is less work. I also feel like I get better growth.
