We all have our own way of doing things, and we all have reasons for the way we go about it.
I purchase QT'd fish and observe for 30 days.
I acclimate and dip corals.
I float cuc and rinse in tank water before adding.
So far these methods have worked well for me.

What methods do you use?

I use HTTM (Hybrid Tank Transfer Method) for fish and >45 day observational QT (depuration) for non-coral inverts.

I don't QT corals -- just dip and add so this is most likely disease/parasite fail point in my case but no problems yet.

Pretty much the same. I'v only qt'd fish for illness. I'll bag float and then drip acclimate a fish for 15 min. Corals get dipped and go right in. Inverts bag float, plucked out of bag and drop in. A clam I'd drip acclimate too.

I planned all the fish that were going to go in my reefer 250, set up quarantine and they all went through there. Afterwards i sold the qt tank since i wasnt going to need it anymore.

Now that i upgraded to a reefer 350 i just use safety stop for any new fish i buy (which is pretty rare)

I had more fish die in quarantine than I did if I just plopped them in the main tank.
I've heard this exact statement more than I've heard QT success stories.

QT everything using current protocols. Once QT equipment is set up, it is just too easy. I have 2 twenty gallon tanks running full time, ready for new fish or coral.

I suggest that the only time someone posts about QT is when they are having fish deaths, not when the QT is actually working. Often if one believes the QT process is not working, the steps followed are flawed. That's generally true for any posts about sick or dying fish. Almost all posts in the fish disease forum are about newly acquired fish that are not doing well. If one buys new fish and everything works,QT or no QT, odds are that person will not post anything.

After having velvet wipe out all the fish in my DT 15 years ago, every fish added is quarantined, either by myself (or recently by Dr. Reef). I proactively medicate in QT with PraziPro, Copper Power & Metroplex and have had much success with quarantining. I purchase inverts thru reefcleaners.org, which is supposed to be from quarantined fish-less environments, to avoid parasite introduction via CUC. I dip & replace plugs on all coral frags, but I don't quarantine frags.

I think most people follow this regimen. My thought process is similar. Fish parasites will be most common within fish, therefore QT every fish I believe, or purchase from someone such as dr reef

Most people won’t QT inverts or coral, but on here you’ll see a lot of people who claim to, which I don’t deny or claim they do

There are people who will absolutely QT everything in hopes of disease prevention and coral pests/ nuisance algae’s

Currently planning out whether or not I’ll be QT coral or not lol we will see
