What's your most active fish at night?

Wow I am surprised. All my fish are in their caves and sleeping areas by the time the lights go off. Sometimes if I get home late and try to feed the fish with the blue lights still on, it looks like someone stole all the fish. Urchins, snails & bristol worms are the only ones awake at night in my tank.

The only time my engineer gobies come completely out into the open is after lights out. It's a shame, cause these guys are huge and gorgeous.
Also, my pajama cardinal seems to be his laid back, slow cruising self after the lights go out.

My Filefish are most active at night. I wish I would've taken before/after pics - my 65 gal tank was over-ridden by aiptasia. I tried AiptasiaX, kalk & even a laser and all those did was irritate them and made them multiply. Added a couple of filefish and for the first week nothing. Then in almost in "an overnight" - most of the large aiptasia was gone. Next night I got out my red flashlight and saw them literally ripping aiptasia from the rockwork. They're shy when lights are on but hunters at night.

Ironically my fish seem quite lazy. I say ironically as the tank is lit with natural lighting and they don't get up any earlier in the summer, when the tank gets light at 3-4 am till 10 pm, compared to the winter when we get very little sunshine.
You'd think with a more natural photoperiod in the summer they'd be out and about from first light but they are still in bed at 9 am.

I know my marine betta comes out the most when the light is dim because he likes making my female clownfish jump. They have a hate hate relationship.

Mine are all unseen at night. Only activity is emerald crabs, snails, couple shrimp.

I have always wanted engineer gobies. Unfortunately one of those "didn't think of at the time of upgrading" things wrecked any chance of owning them. I guess you really need a solid aquascape structure when owning these and while my larger rocks are resting on PVC I'm not sure if I designed it with these fish in mind. Much to my dismay...

I'm considering an upgrade already so next go around I may try something different in the process because I think they are really neat fish.

Edit: On topic - I don't see any of my fish out at night. I do have a urchin that comes out and is cool to watch. Also a pair of peppermint shrimp. They don't come out at all other than lights out. Snails also seem to be out more at least those that are night only sort of things.

I do get to see the unique places my matted filefish sleeps. Lately tucking the top dorsal fin thing into my corky finger corals. Keeps him/her stationary. Oddest thing but looks interesting.

When I set up the 125, I lined the entire bottom of the tank with egg crate cause I knew I was getting them. I haven't had any movement of the rockwork. In hindsight, I probably would have just used the egg crate under the rocks. One note of caution: These guys move incredible amounts of sand! If you like a nice even sand bed, they will keep you frustrated. I love them though. They are amazing, and keep the area under the rocks constantly stirred up.

Mine is a copperband butterfly too. Last to bed first up and probably only not searching for about 4 hours

Banggai Cardinal. I have never seen that fish sleeping. Unless that’s what it does while staring into the Xenia patch for an hour or so. It’s always out at night, typically stalking my Peppermint Shrimp.

My pyramid butterfly’s are always swimming around when the lights are out.

Lyretail Anthias are out unless completely dark (even with just a little dim ambient light), the only true nocturnal fish I have is my Pajama Cardinalfish.
