What's your secret weapon?

I don't think it's necessarily a secret, but I don't think the biggest advantage is all the bells and whistles available. I think it starts with having a big enough sump/ water volume and rock to properly house the inhabitants. If someone plans accordingly for what they plan on putting in the tank, it eliminates so many things. Once you add all those other chemicals, compounds, whatever, not only do you have more room for equipment failure, but each compound adds another variable to the water, or sways elements/nutrients. And we all know how important stability is.

Giving away secrets is not what Flipper does! Lol, I'm just kidding, seriously.

*Stability and consistency for the win!

*Have always been a advocate of K.I.S.S, thus no controller and minimal automation. (Have always had a ATO)

Why you may ask? This alone keeps L.A.R.S far away from me and my tank!

It makes me test water pramameters on a constant basis and manually dose to maintain water pramameters. Makes me look and inspect the tank everyday and makes me do my maintenance when scheduled.

Keeps me involved constantly. Hands on, Not hands in the tank!

No L.A.R.S!

Secret weapons, reverse undergravel filter, live blackworms, live clams that I freeze and make sure the fish get a meal that has live bacteria in it every day.

Whats this K.I.S.S. method? I tried ro find the forum to explain the language used in the hibby but things have changed. Lol

Kiss is an acronym for "keep it simple stupid".

Id imagine not much is simple unless you just do waterchanges. Is about as simple as it gets.

Upgrading to a bigger sump will only fix #5 and nothing else imo.

Well it would also allow for a bigger skimmer. He must be using a hang-on skimmer because I don't know of one that will fit in a 5 gallon sump with a return pump.

It's actually pointless to even have a 5 gallon sump on a 75. Might as well run a closed loop then.
