I lost a bumble bee snail and a week later caught a welk red handed eating another. This is what the welk looked like. I’d remove it, better safe than sorry.

Nassarius snails (ex. Nassarius margaritifer and Phrontis (Nassarius) vibex) are known to have opercula (though I hear they are thinner than those on whelks), and whelks can be incredibly varied (ex. Kelletia kelletii does not feature tattooed siphon patterning). Some of the information on the Melev’s Reef whelk article is not entirely true, which is where I assume most people are getting their information on aquarium whelks. That being said your snail doesn’t appear to be any species of Nassarius I know (especially given how lumpy it is) and looks very similar to the whelks in the article, so I would assume it’s not reef safe.

Thank you, that was the post I had found when searching what type of snail it was.
I had left it in the small painting container pictured on my overflow, and since it was doomed anyway I went to bed without moving it. It has completely disappeared, I would assume found it's way back into the tank -- I'll keep any eye out for it lol
