Whelk or nassarius snail?

i have three of them and they were tiny (Amphipod) and now getting bigger. Not sure what they came in on. Most likely my gulf rock. whelk or nassarius?

Never heard of a whelk until. Can someone educate me on why they are bad for a reef? TIA.
They’re predatory - typically eating things like other snails (your CUC), crustaceans (ornamental shrimp and such), worms (CUC and ornamental), etc. A few species (not “true whelks” but whelks nonetheless- such as a few Rapanine Whelk species) also eat corals.
