Just looking at my tank.....feeling a bit dismayed...I think most of us have been there at
one point or another with our tanks. The other day I had some time, so I thought hey, why
don't I mount a few loose frags that I have had sitting on the bottom for a while. I recently purchased
some full length gloves to wear while working on the tank, and I think that's where the trouble started. A few weeks ago had surgery, so I didn't want to get any kind of weird infection or be stung while I was recuperating, so I thought I would be extra cautious with the gloves.
Anyway, while I was trying to mount one of the frags with a glue/putty/glue combo I apparently
got carried away trying to push one of the frags onto my rock (not helped by not having the
greatest of sensation while wearing the gloves) and I shifted some of my base rock and started
a mini avalanche on one side of my tank. Luckily it went kind of slow because hit the front of the glass,but did not break it....its a 20 year old 75 gallon...but I am told they used nice thick glass back then and I am glad for it!
But what did happen was I knocked off, or severely compromised most of the corals on that
side of the tank...nothing noteworthy...but corals that I have grown from frags over 2 years
and were proud of nonetheless. After 2 hours I patched everything back together but they will
looking rough for the immediate future...and of course I had my gloves off working on
the tank trying to stave off any more damage and put things back together, so it all was for naught anyway. What I am thankful for is that my bubble tip, that took weeks to find a happy spot, somehow stayed put after the whole ordeal, thought for sure he would be on the move again!
OK, enough crying and time to pick up a big bottle of super glue and some more putty and secure my rocks so this doesn't happen again.....and of course maybe a couple frags...lol
