When Do you

Good evening...since my first post, i have been curing my rocks etc. I decided to upgrade to 220 thank rather than setting up my 120. (remember I am a newbie to this)

I have done a lot of research and I never really saw anything that shows different steps into setting up or when to add certain equipments.
My questions are:

During the cycle of the tank, When do i add/operate the Carbon/GFO reactor, Calcium reactor,
Refugium etc.
The only thing i have set up is right now is my RO/DI system, using that to cure my rocks and then will mix the salt and fill the tank... Is it only after I had live stock? Coral etc i introduce those equipment chemicals....

Carbon and GFO are used to control issues the crop up and are not needed during the first weeks of starting a reef tank. A calcium reactor is used when your corals are growing at a rate where the calcium and alk levels can not be maintained by water change. This can be some time months after the tank is set up and thru testing you will see this time when the calcium and alk is being depleted fast.

I think its good to start a refugium for pods. When you have no fish they can thrive, so by the time you are ready for your live stock you are good to go. Check out BRS ULM video series. I think its this episode
