When does High PH become a bad thing?

So I recently moved my tank downstairs and have my frag tank and refugium on a reverse cycle of my main display. I was averaging about 8.3 during the day to 8.10 at night. I recently added a CO2 scrubber and it’s bumped it from 8.30 during the day to touching 8.58 and settling around 8.35 at night.

my question is when should I start to worry that PH is getting to high?

when i see some wild fluctuations like this ....I would calibrate my ph probe . Maybe even verify it with another probe/ or test kit if you have one.

I tried to calibrate mine last week and I did not finish it right. Mine is usually 8.32 during the day and 8.2 during the night. Waiting for more calibration solution from BRS to arrive so i can re calibrate it.

Yea I had just calibrated it when I moved my sump to the basement, maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

A pH as high as 8.6 is fine. Above that is experimental and may make precipitation on pumps and heaters more prominent.

Well that’s good. You think it would be a good idea to put my CO2 on a solenoid and have it switch off when it reaches certain levels?

That would save money on the CO2 media. I think that’s a smart plan.

seems like 8.1-8.3 is great.
Leave off the scrubber you may open a window perhaps or just draw outside air into the skimmer and not have it spike up so high.
