Last Friday I received three fish in the mail. A .75 inch hippo tang, and 2 one inch gobies. I'm keeping them in an observational QT. I'm only doing this to make sure none of this quick killing diseases like brook and velvet dont get in. I dont care about ich. Theyve looked good since I got them. I would think their tiny size and stress from shipping would have caused any velvet to show itself already? How long should I wait?

Velvet usually shows pretty quickly (within a week) although I don’t have any exact numbers for you. If the fish are doing well and eating it won’t hurt to watch them for a couple more weeks to make sure nothing else develops. It sounds like you tang is quite small so being in a QT for a bit longer won’t hurt. Depends on your tolerance for risk. I don’t like introducing them until 100% sure they don’t have anything. Don’t want to risk my healthy fish to disease from a new fish that I Was too impatient with. Also if you have bigger or aggressive fish in DT then the small tang may benefit from getting a bit bigger first.
