Along with reef keeping I also really enjoy woodworking so I decided to make a custom walnut stand for my new tank. Going to get a waterbox 20 and make it primarily a home for my mated clownfish pair I've had for three years . I used my CNC router to engrave a clownfish design on the door as well as make the custom molding around the top and bottom. Grainy pictures don't do the walnut justice, it is super pretty wood. Very happy how it turned out, excited to get the tank up and running!

Nice! This is just a hobby for the wordworking?

Beautiful cabinetry work there. Beautiful. I love working with walnut. What finish are you planning? I made my cabinet out of white oak and was very concerned about the "inside" of the cabinet's reactions to the sump/saltwater.

Thanks! I used Rubio monocoat. Rated pretty well for waterproofing. I am not too worried about moisture or water since the tank will be an AIO so it wont have a sump in the stand. The only thing I will keep inside is the equipment and probably a RO jug

Fellow workers here. Let's see the glue ups and progress shots!

I resisted the urge to TWW Guild my stands. It's not easy to KISS!
I didn't take very many shots during the build. I built a carcass out of 1/2 plywood and then glued up three panels of 3/4 walnut and glued the walnut to the plywood. The plywood was super unnecessary probably but I wanted a lot of rigidity, plus it made gluing the walnut mitered corners much easier. I used my cnc to cut out the middle panel for the doors, which was great because I was able to reuse the cut out as the actual door panel so its a flowing grain pattern from the stand and the door.
