Am I the only sucker that keeps buying so called "orange "frog spawn and elegance corals based off internet pictures that are really tan colored .I know orange when I see it,and so far 3 attempts from 3 different online sources and i got 3 tan corals.Even at 6500k those suckers are not orange like the pictures.

Hahahhah.. next time I get an orange hammer or orange frog spawn.. get it from me . If it's not orange , ill give double your money back. I'll shoot you a pic before I ship. If it's not as pictured I'll do as I say. Double your money back. I'll bring back your faith in online purchasing and nice corals :-)

Feel you grief. I have a tan wall hammer that was orange when i bought it from lfs. I did not follow my own rule. Tell them to turn off blue led and turn on white. So my hammer is only orange at night when lunar lights come on.

I bought a huge hammer colony that appeared to be neon green, under my halides it's almost gray.

That seems to be same thing with my orange. It takes a certain degree of blue to highlight the fluorescence. Under normal daylight their true color is shown. I guess if you can live with your aquarium looking like a teen ager's bedroom filled with black lights, you are ok.

I have a ton of so called yellow corals, that are just another green coral and red strips are brown??? De~sep~tion seems to be tolerated in the coral bizz. I know better now.

Not to criticize your pic, but thats a horrible representation of what it looks like. I have the same one and it's far more colorful than that.

My wall hammer is orange under blue led. It is tan with a slight orange tinge under t5 actinic. It is tan under 20k mh. Certain colors are enhanced under blue light. But that does not make it the true color. When i now buy a coral locally. I now ask to adjust the lights to normal lighting. I like the way the coral will look like in my tank at night, now lets see what it will look like in day light.

Not to knock anyone but buying better lights will solve your problem.

the tank with my hammer in it before I sold the whole setup was running a radion G2 pro. When I blasted the blue it was a great color. But under a 50/50 mix it was gray. Same under my halide and T5.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in search of a truly vivid orange hammer. I have the tan hammer in my tank. Those really orange ones only come from Vietnam right? The quest continues.

I know, right....I feel badly to mis rep something nice.
Pic were taken with cell phone, I need a good camera. ..

I've had the same experience with an "orange galaxea". The color looks tan now, two weeks after purchase. Tentacles from the new growth have a slight orange tinge, but a vast majority of the tentacles are tan :squigglemouth:. I run Acan LED lights.
