Hi. This is my first tank in ten yrs, so im basically new again. My tank is fully cycled and ive had fish and a couple corals for a few weeks now, but ive yet to do a water change. Tank is 35 gallons. Using IO salt.

When should i do my first water change?

How much (%)?

All water parameters are good right now and everything seems happy.

This is how it looks now if it means anything. Little bit of algae on the rocks still, but its coming off.

I’d do a 5 gallon change every week or two as part of a good maintenance schedule. Definitely don’t wait until parameters are not so good. I say 5 gallons because it is convenient with buckets.

Thanks. Ill get in it tomorrow!

For my 36 gallon I did 10 gallons one week and 5 gallons the next and I kept alternating it like that and it seemed to work really well. 5 gallons per week would be decent as well and not make for such an ordeal when you change the water.

20% WC weekly is what I try to shoot for. With 35g tank if you do 5gl WC every week I think you should be fine.
