When should I give up on this Alveopora?

I purchased a pink alveopora online in October 2019. When it arrived it was beautiful and fully opened. However, over the next few weeks it began to slowly retract until it was no longer opening at all. I moved it to a different spot and began direct feeding it with reef roids and iron supplements and it seemed like it was improving. However, for the past month it only opens half way. So, is regaining its health or just past recovery? See picture below:

I had one until I asked my LFS to hold it and it died there it seems to be a very picky coral, mine used to close up for no reason and suddenly be fully open the next day If you don't see anything wrong with your params and you don't see skeleton it may come out. What are your params?

I would think your phosphates are low. Is there a possibility that it was stung by another coral?

I had one until I asked my LFS to hold it and it died there it seems to be a very picky coral, mine used to close up for no reason and suddenly be fully open the next day If you don't see anything wrong with your params and you don't see skeleton it may come out. What are your params?

All my parameters are good. I have two green alveoporas that are thriving and have gotten bigger. What do they look like when dead?

Yours is not dead, if you have two thriving then possibly check for parasites on the coral. Dead ones look like this

Well the one in the picture isn't dead. When they are dead they are all white with no flesh. If you have cleanup crew and they aren't picking at it, it's alive. Like someone else mentioned check PO4. Also maybe moving it to different area to see which flow it likes best can help. You have to move it and give it some time though. If may not come out immediately unless the new place in tank is super ideal for it.

There isn't really anything concrete that can say what is really going on with it. You just have to look for potential solutions, but not do anything that will disturb everything that is happy.

I was thinking that I should dip it in iodine but was worried that might be too harsh for it at this time. What do parasites look like? This was the most expensive of the alveoporas that I purchased. Why is it that the most expensive corals die? (at least seems to me. Shouldn't it be the other way around?)

Some parasites can not be seen in the tank, the picture is indeed a dead Alveopora if yours looked like that it may have looked a bit different then
