when the heck did sps get so expensive

Just be patient and try not to buy until you shop around. Back in the summer, I was looking for a named piece and couldnt find it under $200. I waited and waited for one to fall into my price point and refused to pay outside that point. I checked fragswapper one day as there were some swaps close to me and wahlah! there was the stick I was looking for at a fraction of the price. On the flip side, if there is a coral I am looking for and I want it now who says its wrong to pay a high price for a "right now thing". I cant blame the vendors for charging what they charge, I just pass and wait for the hype to subside or for it to be offered by a private reefer. I've got a lot of fox and tyree stuff and never bought it direct. Just be patient, set a price point you can stick to, and be disciplined or you will pay the "right now" price.

IMO........:horse:..........:bored:............

In other news, Toys For Kids 2014 past the 5K mark and is now at $5310, two days left to make more Kids smile.

I know the fresh cut stuff kills me, I actually laugh at some of the vendors. Years ago fresh cut was a no no, but like someone said our ability to keep stick now have really caused this to happen, and ya gotta love leds and photoshop I think they are a big part of the problem too

I disagree with this, unless you mean fresh cut wild sps. Clip and ship was the standard back in 2000-2001, and nobody blinked at it. I probably shipped out 400+ frags in one summer and never heard of a single one dying. The sticker is that the corals have to be healthy growing captives...which does not seem to be the standard of "high end" frags now. I discussed this briefly with Adam at Battlecorals a couple of months ago in his forum.

The crazy part is the corals are not new ha ha believe that. These guys are enhancing photos tons of blue LEDs these guys have
learned to take pics under these lights. I have been doing this for 30 years, corals are the same guys changing the name every few years.
Sps looks different in every tank depends on light and water quality. Stop buying over priced corals with catchy names that are 1/2 inch crazy.
Gotta love this hobby lol

This, about the fresh cut of properly captive stuff. I just got your clath and one other coral from Adam, my most recent round from him. I specifically asked for fresh cuts because, at least from him, I've gotten the best growth from the fresh stuff.

Clath is encrusting nicely :)
