When to add first coral and witch one

I want to add coral to my tank soon. I only have 2 clownfish at the moment. I have a 75 gallon display. What would be the best starter coral. I love the corals that flow with the water. Is an anemone a good one to start with.

Zoas are always a good starter coral. Anemone is NOT a good starter

Anemone is probably one of the last inverts you want to add.

Anemone really need an established tank. (At least 6 months, but I prefer 1+ year)

If you are not set on a type of coral, (LPS, SPS, Softies) but really want some "movement" in the tank, I would try a nice easy softy (Fingers, Kenya Trees, Toadstools), or if you are confident in your parameters (especially Alk, Calcium, etc for the Stony Corals), a beginner friendly Eupyhllia like the common Hammer.

Euphyllia are easy imo, but first get zoas and let them grow new heads

Then maybe get something like a clove polyp or gsp, you can let those grow out for a while too incase your nervous to get into LPS.

After you see your softies growing and happy, get any LPS that your LFS has cheap, for me my LFS sells alveopora, Duncan’s and candy canes for around $15

Make sure you know what a healthy piece looks like before you buy it. Go on YouTube or something and become familiar with a healthy coral

Get a mag,alk and calc test kit your going to need it

(Please please PLEASE don’t get api, get Salifert it’s usually more accurate and technically cheaper)

Duncan’s are great starter corals. Cheap, pretty hard to kill, fun to feed. As for Kenya tree it goes with Xenia and star polyps… in the trash. It’s way too invasive.

You could consider a neon green toadstool. Easy to keep. Amazing colors and flows nicely

First you need to get test kits for Alk, Cal and Mag like mentioned before.
Not sure how much experience or your knowledge about corals but there are some corals that can be invasive like Start Polyps (any colors), Cloves and even Zoas, if you decide later on you don’t want them any more you’ll have a very hard time trying to get them off your rocks.

Over all Leather corals, most LPS and most Zoas are very good starter corals.
