I got a YWG about 3 days ago in my 25 gallon. I’ve not seen him since. I’ve looked around a ton in all the burrow like areas and there is no sign.
When do I call it?
I do not see an ammonia spike but I am dosing MB7 daily right now

I’ve had fish go missing for a month then pop up like nothing happened. I’d give it at least a week.

I had a purple dottyback go missing for months (4-6) and found him randomly in the back of the tank one day out of the corner of my eye. Biocube 29. No idea how he survived that long back there

Most times when I lost a fish, there was no evidence. My CUC would eat the carcass before I could ever spot the missing fish. Also, I have found fish in my sump, overflow, and other areas that they weren't supposed to be in, so there is a chance of that too. Good luck!

I would give it some time! My Royal Gramma vanished for about a week, I added him when my tank was fairly new so I picked up all my rocks to attempt to find him (presumably dead) and get him out of the tank. Close to 2 weeks into having him, he was out zooming around the tank. He found a hole in one of my rocks that he lives in, and comes out for feeding and randomly throughout the day to socialize lol.

My Lawnmower Blenny is the same, I'll see him about once a week, sometimes even longer... but I know he's there from all the sand holes he creates under my rockwork

Ok I’ll wait a bit longer! I got a gramma at the same time and within a day the gramma is swimming all over in and out of caves etc. the watchmen no where to be found. I figured it’d be reversed

This is what I was worried about. My serpent sea star looks fat and happy and my hermits were gone for a day. The YWG was small so it wouldn’t take much I assume

I've had my watchman for over a year now and I thought he has died at least 5 times because he just doesn't come out. His pistol shrimp buddy usually dictates which cave entrance they're gonna hang out at.

Just be patient, the more you disturb their home then the more likely they are to stay hidden. That or you collapse a cave in on him

I don’t have a shrimp for him as I didn’t want the mess everywhere / covering corals. But I have not gone in and moved anything just lots of intense looking. But good to know for sure.

If he was not acclimating well you would have seen signs of stress. He would be glass surfing and nervous at the top of the tank versus his normal spot as a bottom dweller. That's what mine did because the neighborhood would not allow him in and I had to return him

I guess I just don't understand. You say you'll wait a little longer. And when do you call it? I don't understand what your plan is if you call it? Is it just saying oh well it's gone or do you plan to tear the tank apart looking for it?
Wait longer to say he’s gone and try to replace him

Gotta call the Big Guns

It's also fine to have 2...
Well I have a 25 gallon with 2 clowns and a gramma and this YWG. I don’t want to overload my tank / have two of the watchmen. If my tank can handle another I’d prefer something else haha
