Using Seachem Matrix for about 8 months. I rinse it about once a month. Is there a time frame on when you all change your bio media? Also, I was thinking about changing to marine pure. Any noticeable differences from anyone that has done this? The tank is an IM 40 aio

Thanks

Never change it. The only thing to do is rinse it or shake it in some salt water to clean gunk off of it.

I doubt you would see any noticeable difference with marine pure.

Never change it, never let it dry and rinse it in old tank water after a water change (or new saltwater if your want to waste your new water rinsing). Changing it defeats its whole purpose (now you have new media that has to colonize bacteria in order to do what the old media was already doing).

Never use Matrix before what is it used for and what does it do would love to know especially if you never have to change it and all you have to do is rinse it

It is a biomedia (essentially cleaned out pumice stone). Its is a porous rock that hosts bacteria to remove ammonia and nitrite. If a carbon source is given, it can be used for denitrification.
