should i change spectrapure membranes if silica is reading 2.0 on hanna checker?
use phosguard in a small bag. thought that would remove silica as well as phosphate.

Phosguard claims to remove silicates, not sure how well it does. How many stages is the filter? 3 or 4? If it doesn't have deionization, there's a possibility you could get trace levels of nutrients still but generally with deionization if you get above 0 for just about anything I'd recommend changing the filter. Silicates can quickly build up, especially if you're using it for top off and water changes...then you're fighting diatom blooms and possibly more. I would changed it to see what my next readings say...then you have a good idea of what it's "supposed" to be putting out.

What is the margin of error on the Hanna? I change out filters and resin every year on my BRS 7 stage and change out the membranes every 3 years.

do you have meter before and after membrane, before di ?
i go by 10% ratio in and out ,9-10% time to change .
