when to cut cheato

just a quick question, when do you guys know when it’s time to cut your cheato and when you do how much do you break off?

I usually cut it when it grows to the surface, and take about half of it.

Same here... wait till it outgrows the space/light available and then remove about half of it.

Looks like your light is evenly distributed over surface of tank. To maximize photosynthesis, spread out chaeto to minimize shading. When thickness if chaeto layers requires rolling algae mat, then it should be thinned and exported.
