When to Dose Seachem Prime in QT

Have my first QT setup, and started the Humblefish method with Copper Power a couple days ago.
Copper is currently at 1.2, slowly raising to 2.0 over the next couple of days.
It is also my first time using the Seachem Ammonia Alert badge and Seachem Prime.
My ammonia currently displays a slight increase as shown.
At what point should I get concerned and start dosing Prime?
It is a 30G QT and the instructions say 2 drops per gallon, but 60 drops seems excessive with such a small increase? Maybe I'm wrong, just new to this, and would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

Tbh I would just dose it if I saw any ammonia just in case. You only need 3ml every 2 days (5 ml treats 50 gallons).

You can always just get a bag of biomedia or something similar and pour bacteria into the qt

Thank you. So even for a little ammonia I should go for the full dose then.
I removed my bio balls right before medicating, as it would absorb the medication.

Bioballs are fine with the copper. Plastic will not absorb the copper (at least I can't see how it would). You could even use an aquarium sponge as biomedia or filter floss.

And as for the ammonia, it is best to play it safe and prime is so cheap for how much you actually need so might as well be on the safe side.

Well, I used the full dose of Prime, waited a few hours, and the badge color is the same. So either the color is not right, or Prime does not work. I'm leaning to the former. Being a first time Seachem Ammonia badge user, I am not very impressed.

Prime does not remove ammonia. It makes it non toxic for 48 hours. You will still detect ammonia, but it won't be deadly.
