I just added 2 tangs to my tang, one purple, one yellow. The purple one is kind of beating up on the yellow one. The beating is kind of sporadic, not just a constant chasing/biting/tail hitting, but at what point do i need to step in and pull the yellow fish out? They've only been in the tank for about 24 hrs.

How big of a tank? If you just put them in and they are not constantly chasing each other I wouldn't worry about it. They are just establishing a pecking order.

Following.

added a Sailfin to my tangs Naso, yellow, blue hippo, blue throat trigger and the sailfin was picked on the first couple days now that’s he’s comfortable the tables have turned and he’s the one picking on the yellow and hippo the Naso is still boss and much larger so I don’t see that changing.

125 gal tank. the yellow tangs fins are a little torn up but nothing significant.
