So my tank has been up and running for a little over a month. I am getting inpatient and I’m ready for this green algae on my rocks to go away. I am starting to see coralline algae on some of the rocks but I’m tired of seeing green. Any idea on what I could be doing to cause this or just new tank uglies? 2BC5BB05-C767-4AC6-8E81-C541D7A8FE8D.jpeg

If the green stuff isn’t scrubbing off, I’d say it’s the start of coralline algae. That’s how mine started anyway.

I wouldn’t get caught up in how your rocks look though. It will take many months for them to be a solid purple.

From what I have read, if it doesn't come off with a tooth brush it may be coralline starting.

BTW my rocks look the same and my tank is 5 months old

Okay well I haven’t scrubbed at it yet just was thinking it would go away on its own.

Coraline algae comes in all different colors , including green , pink , red , blue .. so iT could be the start .. Your tank Will go through Many Changes as iT matures , patience is your best friend..!
Have you got a clean up crew in there yet ?

Might want to play around with your lighting too. Under whites my rocks look like yours but a good dose of blue and bsck off on the whites and you can't even see the green anymore.

Your tank is going to go through all sorts of starter stages.... During your cycle you had an ugly stage.... you will have a couple more. As it matures, things will settle down. Work to keep your nutrients - Nitrates low... and Phosphates low... This will prevent algae from getting a strong foothold. Also.... doesn't look like you have much of a cleanup crew - CUC. I would suggest you find one sized for your tank. LiveAquaria and ReefCleaners can set you up with snails.... crabs... that will feed on green algae.

I may need to look into them. As of right now I have 8 snails and 7 crabs though most seem to not do all that much lol. How many would you suggest on a 32 gal?

Go to either of the online stores mentioned above and they will have preselected clean up crews for your sized aquarium. I like John at ReefCleaners... He has sent me some really nice packs.

Okay I’m ordering from them. I’m going to chose the package for about a 25 gal since I already have some cuc in the tank.

Makes sense. Now... that I think about it.... I may need to place an order with John for some more stuff for one of my tanks.
