Hey guys I have another question (yeah I know I ask a lot), where do you have your outlet lines and additives for your dosing pumps? I read that the additives should be above the pump to keep it primed and the outlet should be above the additives to prevent siphon. Is this standard or can I have the additives and/or the outlet below the pump?

Pictures are from before it was actually running, but locations are about the same; I personally would never had the containers above the pump/outlets -- a siphon could be created and drain them into the tank.

Outlets, (( below the pump, but above the containers --- stays fully primed ))

thanks, the pics helped a lot. With this setup you never had a problem with the lines staying primed? I'm going to be running a Jebao DP4 which looks very similar to what you have there.

Sure thing.

Mine is the GHL stand alone doser, and never had any issues with the lines staying primed, even will I refill the containers and pull the ends out of the liquid.

My alk and calc containers are below my pumps:

And the two lines that go into the return section of the sump are below the pumps (the two tubings underneath the plexi marked with an A and C:

Also, peristaltic pumps always have one of their rollers pinching the tubing. They can't siphon or run dry, only if you have an air leak in the tubing somewhere.

Do you have any issues with the return pumps gathering precipitation faster than normal if the additives are put into the return pump section of the sump? i'll be adding the alk and cal (2-part) about 30 mins apart.

We had ours set up with pumps above the containers & outlets above containers but below the pumps. Never had a problem with return pump gathering precipitation at all & we dosed directly above & behind the return pump. Always seem to get a build up Alk at the dosing end tho. We used the Kamoer dosing units, you can just make out the outlets on the far right.

wow.. that is a clean setup.... wish mine looked like that lol. I need to do some serious neatening up :)
ok great, thank you. finally got my dosing pump setup, was just making sure if it was safe to have my outlets around the return pump.
calibrated it and ran a few test doses and they seem to be accurate. looking forward to stability!!

I've never worried about it, as soon as the liquid starts moving it should move the air bubble through the line. It may mess with the dosing amount while this happens, not to sure.

Yep, I have watched the little air bubble move all the way to the outlet, not an issue at all. (( was using the override button on the doser ))

I have kine right above my return pump in my sump. Yesterday I came home to my return pump not working. Pulled it out and took it apart, completely filled with deposits. There wasn't quite enough flow/too close, plus the warmth of the pump itself. So they're going into the overflow now.
