Where can i buy an octopus?

Cephalopods require different care requirements and are not for the average reefer. That's one of the reasons a lot of companies choose not to sell them. They are difficult in aquaria.

Octopus are very common creatures and any decent LFS should be able to order one for you. Here in New York many stores have them. They require a special tank as I am sure you know.
These guys hatched out in my tank. They would wrestle a brine shrimp and ink them.
The main problem with octopus is that they only live a year or two.

Paul, what type are these in the pic? Also how did they get into your tank?

That was many years ago so I forgot what type it was. I didn't keep it in my reef because it would destroy it and eat everything, then escape. I kept it in a 10 gallon tank until it had babies then died as they do after giving birth. I didn't have much luck raising the babies past a few weeks. Maybe I can now but I am not going to try

Ive been doing a bunch of research on them ive read where they live to 3 to 5 years not just a year maybe a dwarf would only live a year

Ny let me know wene u get one in im not looking to get a blue ring one though what kind do u usally get in?

Most of the ones in the trade may last a year if you're lucky. some only a few months. I used to keep octo and I got tired of replacing them.

I might start off with a small one to learn their ways lol and continue on my journey looking for a big boy

an octopus would be a great conversation piece and make for a pretty cool display. I hear they are escape artist though and very smart. I'd hate to come home to one laying on the floor.....

Mine met me at work once. That is not so odd, I am just trying to figure out how he got up to the train turnstile to pay for the train.
