I just got a midas blenny and after the first 2 says he finally wants to eat and now has no problem swimming all around my tank almost all day, somtimes he goes into a hole in my liverock. When I turn my lights off he just stops swimming and hits the sand bed and sleeps there. I wake up and hes sleeping against the glass in the front of the tank. Is this normal?

Mine is in his hole 95% of the time, sleeping or not.

Can you add a picture of the fish?
Its almost impossible to get a picture in the dark but he looks normal he just lays in the sand or in the corner, when the lights come on he goes in his hole

its only 2 days? He hasnt found his forever cave yet, sooner or later he will pick a spot. as suggested above, get him a barnacle, they like those, but if not, its ok, he will find a cave.

Thanks, Its just weird he goes in one during the day sometimes but wont sleep in it. I think they prefer a home that's high up unfortunately I cant help him there.

What other occupants do you have? Including shrimp and crabs. I have a feeling he feels vulnerable to something when he sleeps.

Two clowns, barred dartfish, melanurus wrasse, some snails and a pencil urchin. Nobody really bothers anyone except the blenny he don't like the dartfish because they are the same shape

Mine found a hole in the rockwork on like day 3 and hasn't left it since except to come up to the glass and beg for food. IIRC they don't have swim bladders so they prefer to sit in a cave and wait for food whenever they aren't eating.

7/24 last night he was in the cave when I shut the light off still in there when I went to sleep but when I woke up he was on the sandbed sleeping again instead weird

Mine sleeps up high like you said. I have a HOB overflow box and have a square piece of filter medium behind the inside box part. Charlie Brown as I have dubbed my midas blenny really likes to hang out there when he's resting.

The guy in my tank has a hole in live rock facing front of tank. If he's not swimming around he's perched on rock right next to his hole if not in it. By far favorite fish in my tank!
