Where do they come from?

As someone who had a reef tank 15-20 years ago. I’m curious as to where all the “fancy” Zoanthids have come from.

I remember buying zoa Fraga, but they were probably $50 for a medium colony, not 1-3 polyps. Was it lick of the draw, genetics, lighting, etc? It has to be more than just marketing, but that clearly is part of it.
