All I have is literally Petco and Petsmart and a suffering local pet store. When I call stores it seems like they "might get one," or "don't carry those."

Where exactly can one buy a tank? I guess I can order online...just feels scary too.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

Marine Depot is a good place. They offer Affirm financing so you can make monthly payments. That's how I bought my Red Sea E-260 and the daughter's Red Sea E-170

What kind of tank are you looking for? AIO, nano, build, or package set?

How much do you love that size. i somewhat wanted to go back to my Aqueon 120. Maybe I shouldnt be too close minded for fewer gallons. I know my wife would like to see a smaller tank LOL!

I was somewhat considering a slow build. Like I did before. Cabinet DIY, slowly upgrade out of FOWLR. AIO's with financing are tempting though.

Are you looking for an aqueon, marineland, cube, or what?

I buy used 9 out 10 times but new I call sales then find out nearest pickup lovation that doesn't charge freight.

The E-260 for me is just the right size, it fits perfect between the closet and the bathroom doors.

I would go to saltwateraquarium.com check out their tanks . Crystal Dynamic Aquarium is also a great website for tanks

Not sure if having starfire glass is important to you but if I ever upgrade, would go with SC Aquariums http://www.scaquariums.com/category-s/100.htm They're not the most expensive but not the cheapest either. Heard good things about them also have good customer service. Price includes shipping, stand, sump, skimmer & pump... if u happen to live in SC, can always pick up tank urself. If I had to start over again, I'd go as big as possible.

Theres a few places online.
Or you can see what lfs have to offer from tank builders like planet aquarium.
Wait for sales.
Glass cages has a hundred tanks to choose from and not bad priced either.

I've ordered two tanks online and had them shipped. Both came well packages with no damage. I'm in a similar boat with only petco and 1 very small pet store in the mall. I get what I can for the small store and everything else I order, as I said I haven't had any issues yet... knock on wood.

If you live in or near a bigger city, check a local reefing forum or Craigslist. I got my 75 gallon, stand, a lot of equipment and full bucket of salt for $150 off of Craiglist (YMMV).

It depends on what you want.

A 120 is a good size. It is manageable. It is large enough to have good stability. It is long enough for small tangs.

I would suggest a drilled tank with a sump. Sumps are good because you can put equipment like filter socks, protein skimmers, a refugium, and a return chamber with an auto top off. I sort of feel that you can never have too big of a sump. Sumps can be inexpensive. You can buy a glass tank and put up glass dividers anchored by silicon caulk.

The largest of the production tanks is the 180 at 6’ by 2’ by 2’.

Normal tanks have a strong green tint to the glass. Most people are fine with that. I have a low iron glass tank and the tint is there but it is far fainter. It is also far pricier. It is worth it to me.

I was also very...hesitant...on buying a tank online. I didn't want to risk it breaking or something happening in the mail...

I ended up just buying it from my LFS.

Personally I wouldn't get an AIO for a tank that big. More versatility with equipment having the sump and enclosed cabinet. I love my Reefer 250.
