Where do you start the flow?

Hey cubers, I'm curious where everyone initiates there flow from?
For example, back wall (center, left or right side) or sides (left or right) in relation to your overflow? Maybe you can share some of your trials and tribulations of different placements you have tried.

I have a built in overflow center of back wall.
I have my mp20 on the left side of the tank facing across to the right.

I not sure I like my polyp extension of my SPS and I think my spawn needs the flow to be a bit more indirect.

I am thinking of either adding a mp10 to the back right corner, right side of overflow. Or moving my mp20 to the back left wall, left of overflow and turning her up a bit.

Oops, almost for got I have a QO4000 as my return with 1/4" locline with duck bill fittings pointing to each of the back corners.

Thanks

I have a Vortech mp40 on the right and left side of the tank. I get good polyp extension. I have to be careful though because I have killed sps before because the flow was to concentrated in one spot.

2 MP40's on the back wall either side of the overflow 8" below the surface. That's on my 36x36x24 (not a cube, but close)

36x36x24 with center overflow with a gyre flow pattern
4 tunzes across the back on the bottom. two parallel each side glass pointing toward the front glass at a slight upward angle and two blow directly under the rock toward the front.
flow is circular from bottom back - to front - to top - to top back where the surface skims into the overflow

37 gal cube,

1 mp10 on the left side 3/4th up the tank. 1 K2 in the middle pointing to the front and 1 K2 in the right side pointing to the left slighltly to crash the flow of the mp10 slightly. I get a 360 degree flow throughout the tank.

180 gal

1 vortech in the center
2 tunze, one on the right and left
1 sea swirl in the center powered by a iwaki 40
and 2 return left and right powered by another iwaki

Dang Rik thats a lot of flow in that beast. Tell me you don't have them full throttle.

I need to get 2 more Vortechs for my 250g. I got a small wave, but I want bigger! LOL!

The ideal flow pattern, well done! :nerd:

My ELOS Mini has the return in the back right of the tank (along with the overflow drain) that pushes from right to left. A MJ900 on the upper left back wall pushes water towards the front. When looking from above it's essentially a whirlpool swirling counter-clockwise ;)
