Where does aptasia go?

I had an aptasia on a frag plug that I found the first night it was in my tank. I removed it and glued the area. 4 months later one popped up nowhere near a coral. I glued it into a hole after blasting it with alk. So what made it pop up after 4 months does something activate them?

They release larva occasonially. So it could have taken that long for it to grow and you notice it!

That's aptasia for you. Just spreads out of nowhere. I had one about a year ago, ever since then I eliminate one here and there just for another one to pop up said 4 months later.

I don't think they have a favored condition... unless they can sense when you think you got them all lol

Usually they're just so small and so plain coloured that they go un-noticed until they are a sufficent size or something is annoyed by them

They like lots of particulates and food in the water column. When conditions are favorable and predation is low, they can really take off.

I've neglected my QT tank for over two months (no livestock in there). Salinity is all over the place, there's dinos and cyano everywhere, I left the lights off for 3 consecutive weeks to see what would happen to the dinos and cyano... And I have a few aptasia on the rocks that still survived all of that.
