Where does dead algae go?

I’m getting in control of my algae, will my protein skimmer remove the dead algae if not where does it go?

The protein skimmer will remove some but do you use a filter sock? I suggest you do as that will catch most of it.

What kind of algae is it? Any dead algae not removed by mechanical filtration will dissolve and release nutrients back into your tank potentially fueling new growth.. I aways remove as much as possible by hand or syphon out during your water changes.

just like any living thing in your tank, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. yes your skimmer will remove most of it.
