I have my ATO put the water into the display tank. It's been this way for several years. I can't remember why other than I thought that's where it should go. I want to know how others have their ATO setup.

I have mine dump into the same compartment as the return from the DT. I don't think it matters very much. It drips in pretty slowly...

I have mine go into the 2nd chamber in my AIO. If I had a regular sump I would make it go into the return chamber

Into my tank. I do not want any kind of salinity changes in the sump for overflowing skimmers or the like. I can add 1-2 gallons at a time. If I added less, then it probably would not matter too much.

Into the return section and always making sure the outlet of the ATO feed tube is above the water level in my ATO reservoir to avoid any potential siphon issues... even though it’s not necessary for my situation as I use a Spectrapure peristaltic pump ATO system.

Using the ATK in my return section. The siphon break is in my ATO reservoir and I haven’t had issues with it. My QT uses the Tunze and it goes directly into the tank, it’s a stand alone tank with hob filter.

Originally I had mine placed into the refugium section of my sump but I read that chaeto doesn’t like the salinity fluctuation so I extended it into the return section.

Mine go into the return pump section of my sumps. I use a Neptune ATK in each tank (2) to daily top up the stock RSR gravity fed ATO so I get 24x7 stability. In my QT it goes direct into the display section, that is the only option physically possible. That ATO is a home made gravity fed unit however so very gradual.
