And some shell shots, when it came in the sides of the shell were orange but have since been covered in algae. In the bottom shot you can see the orange still in the left side of the shell.
Very same clam when it first came in, it was covered in Aptasia's... But you can see the orange in the shell.
I got 3 maxima clams out of the same batch. All 3 are differently colored than what we typically see here in the USA. I have since sold the blue one but I still have the other 2.
I totally agree that the clams posted today are the best looking Maxima clams I have ever seen, hands down! But I do not agree with them saying that they could possibly be hi-bred. If that was possible it would have happened long long ago in the natural reefs of the world. And to be perfectly clear, I wouldn't pass up a chance to purchase any of the clams posted, they are gorgeous!!!
Now I am totally curious if the 3 clams that I received might be from the very same clam farm. The orange shell is very mysterious to me, and I haven't seen it before. Makes me wonder what are they dosing the water with to get that color...
