We often hear others say " I spend a lot of time on my tank".
Where do you find yourself spending the most time be it making adjustments, maintenance, future planning as examples?
Do you feel the time spent is sufficient, too much or just right?

I said admiring for my vote. Despite taking a few minutes every day for light cleaning(display mainly) and manual dosing, I don’t take more than a few minutes unless there’s an obvious problem or even something as simple as mounting/relocating a coral.

As I am in my Planning Stage, I spend my time researching. To me, it's of utmost importance that I am armed with a sufficient knowledge base before I start. In my last iteration, I did exactly ZERO research. I bought a tank which came with poor quality equipment and went for it. I'm surprised I did as well as I did. I don't want to be in a constant catch-up mode this time around.

I have five full tanks, so maintenance and admiring. Also have tank number six starting soon. I do something on one of the tanks everyday.

Sitting in front of the thing with my feet up sipping some Grand Marnier while listening to vintage Linda Ronstadt or other oldies. Oh yeah, I do clean the glass. :grimacing-face:

Agree- many of us. Need spend time enjoying our tanks than to make it a daily chore

I spend a lot of time admiring my tank when I am downstairs eating, or watching tv
Often we find ourselves watching the tank and glancing at the TV

I happily sit and admire the tank now, I’ll still add corals here and there but fish wise I’m at a happy place - just waiting for a pair of Laboutei and then I’m finished… well, unless a female neoguinaicus tamarin appears.

I spend a lot of time planning, but really most of my time I spend, like 80% of the time is on monitoring, watching and studying the "Cause & Effects" my changes yield. I'm HUGE on 1 thing at a time, then give it time to adapt and study the tank for the results whether they were good or bad.

With the addition of the automated testing and monitoring ( I wont go into the brand debate ) I added 2 years ago, I have to say having the track-able data makes all the difference in the world in my success with the reef.

There’s always that “unless I find/see”. Yup, there’s definitely a reason I’m part of a group called “Corals Admittedly”….

Definitely, I mean my nano is due a new fish soon but I’ve yet to find anything I love for it.
I had 10 fish in there but a lot of them have hit old age and passed within the past few months.

Next step is painting walls upstairs now that floors installed then first test tank goes back online then move on to it's larger replacement then at some point downstairs floors updated and those walls also painted. Lots of time to plan. All I have at the moment is planning :frowning-face:

I check to see if everything is ok
All my critters and fish are fed on live foods so I spend more time hatching live food and plankton but I love watching the fish hunting for live food

I wish I spent more time admiring my tank, but it's in the garage whilst building a new home. As for maintenance I've got my routine so down pat it only takes me 30 minutes to an hour a week. Currently spend most my time planning the new build once the new house is built

This why the the work gets put in
