I have a nano 6 gallon frag tank.

The powerhead is nano also. Frankly I don't think it's powerful enough to strip the skin off of coral frags, but it is powerful enough to circulate the water.

The powerhead has a magnet, and I've been moving it up and down the tank. Sometimes lowering it to help get the junk off of the bottom of the tank, sometimes raising it to help get the food circulated during feeding.

Where is the best place to keep the powerhead?

Depends how your rockwork is set and if you have sand or not.
You dont want too many dead zones.

If moving the powerhead down temporarily helps you clean the crap off the bottom then why change it? :)
Keep on keeping on :)

Put it on the back wall near the top pointing down towards the back/bottom.
This will keep the bottom clean and have an up flow of current.
I did this in my 25 nano and it worked great.

Small tanks do best with wide angle power heads.

Directional always create dead zones. I prefer to point mine at the surface and let the water circulate around. However, this typically yields a dead zone under the pump.
