Where i can buy a cheap frogspawn? I want like a small colony for my tank. But man im checking websites, and its ridiculously expensive.. anyone here sells them?

Every other reefer sells it on kijiji or facebook market. If you are in a populated area, you should have lots of choices within a few minutes drive from your home for around $20 per head.

Ok, I started to post the exact same thread so piggybacking on here. I was under the impression frogspawn is faster growing and thus cheaper (and theoretically easy to source) but I'm actually having a hard time finding it for sale. Few places seem to sell it and the ones that do are asking similar prices as torch corals. The cheapest piece I found on a website was $70 and that's a sale price. Everything else was over $100 even for small frags. Is there some unknown frogspawn shortage?

I looked through the for sale section on here and only found a few posts from recent months and that was someone in the want to buy section specifically asking for it.

I don't live in a small town but also not a major metro so nobody around me is selling corals on Facebook.

I purchased a 2 head frogspawn for $50 last weekend at our local coral farmers
Market in SoCal. I had a hard time finding someone who carried it for awhile but finally tracked one down.

Divers Den is getting $129 for 5 mushrooms on a rock, cheap coral is no more. Cheap salt at $50 for a 200 gallon bucket is now $70 for a 200 gallon box. $20 a head is a great price, not all Frogspawn grows at a rapid rate.

Not sure if you are near any LFS but cheap frogspawns are a staple at most places. I normally see them for about 15 bucks per head.
I have an LFS that is pretty decent but their coral selection is really hit or miss. They don't seem to have a steady supply of anything (even GSP) and instead just sort of get random bulk boxes of assorted corals which are often so small they're hard to even identify. When my LFS has any euphyllia on hand I rarely find it for less than $60.

I think it's this ironic situation where vendors quit carrying some popular staples because they were "too cheap to deal in" but now availability is limited to areas with strong local reefing communities.

That's weird though because GSP and Xenia are very easy to source from vendors online and I hear are usually their best sellers despite being easy to source for free or cheap in most areas.

I had to buy my GSP for my softie setup from a reefer because my LFS wanted 50 dollars for a quarter size piece because "nobody really buys it". Same with a toadstool, wanted 70 for a dark green toadstool. Ended up getting GSP (sizable chunk), toadstool, xenia, three mushrooms, hermit shells, and some zoas for 100 from a local reef keeper.

Yup, same. I did get some cheap GSP from my shop but it took awhile, and ended up being infested with pests. I also am looking for toadstool and basic discosomas (like plain blue) but running into similar issues. It's like sure I can find some of these things online here or there and sometimes at sane prices but by the time I pay $35 or $40 shipping everywhere for one frag it's no longer cheap entry level coral. Starting to go down the "source from other reefers" road but there's no established local community so may have to build one out myself which won't happen overnight.

Local Facebook Marketplace, Craig’s List. Do you have a Local Reef Club? I’ve done purchases, swaps at my Reef Clubs.
I wish. No local club I'm aware of except for fresh water. I also generally don't see anything on Craigslist or Facebook market place that isn't multiple hours away either. I did just see one listing I'm looking into. I'm not in a "small" area, there are around 600,000 people in my metro but just not a lot of people openly selling corals.

So crazy with different geographies..... I'm finding that San Diego is flooded with euphyllia and I have trouble selling my colonies when I needed to trim. I end up having to break up pieces into onesies and twosies at best and ultimately take them to the LFS for credit where they sell it 3-5x the price.

I ended up getting lucky; shortly after posting my LFS fragged some of the frogspawn in their display tank. They were selling at $40 per head, but had a 2 head for the same price. I pointed it out to them, but they stuck to the price so scored a great looking piece for $20 a head. That said I haven't seen it consistently since then or anything. I think the lesson I've learned is that it's expensive to get corals you want when you want them. The best way to score a good price on something in lieu of a strong local community is just hitting up your LFS as frequently as possible and window shopping.
