Hi,

I have a 240 gallon tank that was used for freshwater previously. It is drilled and has overflow but not the weir. I wanted to remove the slate/glass and add a new one with weir. I don't know the exact name of it. can you help me where can I buy one? The tank is 8ftx2ftx2ft. Thanks!!

Here is the video for reference.

I’m sorry I don’t understand. Internal or external overflow box? You can buy an internal overflow box from any Online retailer and the item listing will give the appropriate size. They are easy to install with some silicone and patience.

Oh. And you want a skin for it? You might get lucky and find something in the correct size. Look at the tank manufacturer.

For something like this I’d make my own. Find a local plastic shop. They’ll cut the pieces to your specs and cut the teeth. It’s probably $100 max for materials and $300 if you want them to glue it. Get some acrylic weld on Amazon (gel is easier to work with) and glue the 3 sided box together. Silicone it onto your existing overflow box to make it look pretty.

Call up Glasscages, give them the dimensions.

Perfect! thank you so much. appreciate your help.

You might also consider:
Removing that overflow,
Patching the holes with glass and silicone or plugging with bulkheads
Drilling for a new overflow. It would likely be cheaper and 'better' this way.

I like the idea of adding the coast to coast overflow but thought about drilling the tank give me chills!

If you contact Melev’s Reef, he sells custom acrylic work and has overflow boxes in his online store. Been in the hobby for a long time.

You can find acrylic overflows on eBay. There may be someone that will even make a custom one for you

Thank you. I'll message MelevsReef.
