I am looking for suggestions here. I figured it would be an easy resolution. Go to big orange or blue store and get the size and pitch of the screw to buy nylon screws from the slide out bins. It wasn't so easy. Neither store had the size I thought I needed so I ordered online. When I sized the screw I thought it was 1/4-20. The screws I am replacing would start . The piece I was using to size the screw had resistance screwing in but I figured that was due to poor threads from when it was screwed in 'goofy' and the head busted off.

The replacement 1/4-20 screws arrived and they are not starting in the skimmer. I could force them in since they are nylon, but the resistance is very clear. This isn't the right size. Does anyone have any suggestions on something that would be very close to 1/4-20, but not quite 1/4-20? I assume it is metric at this point?

The skimmer is a redline aquatics. As far as I can tell they went out of business around 2017ish. I tried the internet archive but I haven't be able to find any good reference material to help narrow down the screws I need. Thank you!

This might work.

This might help too.
Thank you for the option. I think I narrowed it down to metric and probably M7. It turns out I found a match in my bicycle bits bin. I'll take the metal screws to the HW store and match the gauge for certain before I place a new order for nylon screws.

I probably should have done that the first time. :)
