Where to get real live rock?

Hey guys! I was wondering where would be a good place to go and get real live rock online. I have dry rock and was wanting to add a few pieces of live rock to put in there to help my tank out. Thanks!

I do not know exactly what you mean by “real” live rock, but here is every source of live rock I know that is or has recently sold live rock (the first 4 on the list seem to be the most popular):

I've bought from TBS and KP, I think the rock from KP is nicer and has more of the diversity that we want and can sustain long term in our reef tanks.

I just checked KP and they are out of stock .

TBS has rock. Email them. I’ve used the first 3 and all are comparable. You’d do well with any of them.

If you're in NJ and want to go pick some up in person, Absolutely Fish has an entire tank filled with just rock.

I just checked KP and they are out of stock .

They get rock every week, just have to pull the trigger when they add it to the site. You can join their mailing list and it will tell you when they add it. You can also try emailing them, very nice guy.

I always recommend checking kijiji and facebook groups first. I bought 80lbs last summer, at $2/lb, from a very nice lady who was breaking down her tank. And another "local" recently broke down his tank and was selling live rock for extremely reasonable rates. That's an 80% discount from LFS rates, as the going rate in the province seems to be about $10/lb. Apparently, live rock has not been taught the metric system.

I purchased from my local fish store in NC and I think they just put white dry rock into there salt water tank and sell it for 12.99 a pound instead of it being real live rock.
