It's been about 15 years since I last set up a tank, and I'm seeing that live rock is apparently harder to get and a lot more people are using dry rock, with maybe a few seed pieces of live. Where are you all getting your rock, of whatever variety?

I was lucky to have an LFS near me that has real live rock. There are also several who aquaculture live rock on leased sites in the ocean. KP Aquatics, Tampa Bay Saltwater, ARC Reef and others.

And, welcome to R2R!

Marine depot still has Pukani available for a heck of a lot cheaper than any LFS near me.
Hrm, I can only find dry Pukani on their site. I wonder if they've stopped carrying the live stuff recently.

Tampa Bay Saltwater sells live rock that they culture in the Gulf of Mexico. It is shipping in bags of water, so shipping us expensive. That said, I have started two tanks with it and won't do it any other way from now on ...

We used live rock from our local lfs' for the 32 gallon. Ended up ordering a 100 lbs of dry rock from Billy's Reef Connection and plan to seed for the larger tank.
