I'm drilling the new tank and setting up overflows etc. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on if the return from the sump needs to push with or against the WP-25 in the tank? Another way to say it would be should the powerhead and return line be on the same side of the tank or opposites?

I like to split the return and have them coming through the back wall perpendicular to the flow from the circulation pump(s).

If that was not an option I would set it against the flow from the circulation pump.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Center return with a split in it facing both ways.

I have always been a fan of crashing currents into each other. this offers you some blustery conditions and gives you more randomness.

Yup. I agree with the above. My WP25 is on the left side of my tank, along with the overflow. The return is in the middle of my tank, blowing into the front of the glass, perpendicular to the flow of the WP25. Seems to work well for me.
